Darien police charged a New Jersey woman with driving under the influence, obtaining drugs illegally and possessing narcotics not in the original container on Sept. 2 after finding 171 methadone pills and two oxycodone pills in her trunk.

Police received a call from a motorist who reported a blond female erratically operating a black Saturn with New Jersey plates traveling south on I-95. The caller said the Saturn almost swerved in front of a truck before exiting the highway at exit 11 and driving into the parking lot of the Darien Diner on Post Road.

When officers approached the vehicle, they found Roseanna Fox, 53, of 83 Walnut St., Toms River, asleep behind the wheel with the keys in the ignition and the motor running.

When Fox woke up, police said her speech was slurred and her eyes were bloodshot. She failed her field sobriety test, according to the report.

Police did not find evidence of alcohol, and believed Fox may have been under the influence of drugs. K-9 Zulu was brought to the scene and conducted a "free air sniff" of the vehicle interior. Police said Zulu alerted on the vehicle's trunk area and a search produced a pink fabric bag containing three prescription pill containers.

Police said the first container was not labeled and contained methadone hydrochloride; the second container was labeled ibuprofen, but also contained methadone hydrochloride; the third container was an oxycodone prescription made out to Fox on Aug. 29. Police said the prescription was for 180 pills, and two pills were in the bottle.

Fox was held in lieu of a $2,500 bond and was transported to court for arraignment on Sept. 4
