Casmore Jones, 26, of 35 Plaza Terrace, Hamden, was charged with sixth-degree larceny Tuesday, July 10, on a warrant stemming from an incident April 12, when police said packages were stolen from a resident of Old Kings Highway South.
Police said the resident reported on April 13 that two packages totaling $112 were taken from near the front door of the home at approximately 1:36 p.m.
A video surveillance system at the residence captured a person, later identified as Jones, allegedly committing the larceny. Police said still photos of the footage were distributed to other law enforcement agencies through the Connecticut Intelligence Center. It was determined Jones had been arrested for a similar crime in Norwalk.
Police said they contacted Jones's attorney June 18, who said he would advise Jones to turn himself in to police.
Jones failed to comply with this advisement, according to the report, and was arrested in Norwalk at approximately 10:25 a.m., when he was scheduled to appear in court on an unrelated matter.
Jones posted a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court July 23.
