The Darien Police Department is currently investigating the report of a missing person.

According to police, Bridgeport resident Richard Benevides arrived at work early Tuesday morning at a Darien car dealership, where he works as a mechanic. After a brief stay, Benevides left some personal belongings behind, entered a customer vehicle and drove off of the dealership property at approximately 6:30 a.m.

Police said Benevides' family has no knowledge of his whereabouts. An ATM surveillance photo places him in the Bridgeport/Fairfield area at approximately 11:15 a.m. today.

The vehicle that Benevides was last seen operating is a blue 2003 Chevy Tahoe with Connecticut plates that read 838-XEZ. He is described as 6 feet, 220 pounds with short brown hair, a goatee, a mustache and tattoos on his wrist and arm.

He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, blue shorts and tan work boots.
