The YWCA Darien/Norwalk invites new residents to its Newcomers Wine and Cheese Ladies' Night on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m. The event, which will take place at a YWCA Newcomers Club member's Darien home, is designed to help new residents meet others while introducing them to the YWCA Darien/Norwalk's activities and community outreach programs.
The Newcomers Club has been welcoming residents to the area for more than 45 years and includes plenty of opportunities to make new friends through activities including ladies nights out, a monthly book club, informal play groups, volunteering opportunities and couples' activities, including the gourmet and wine-tasters groups. The Newcomers hosted its annual Fall Kickoff party last weekend, which was sold out and attended by more than 120 new residents, who enjoyed food, drinks and music at the Darien Historical Society.
Kristina Gregory, Jamie Lombardy, Jen Osborn and Diane Urban, all new to Darien, are planning the free event. Attendees are asked to bring unused toiletries (especially hospitality sizes) and blankets to donate to a domestic violence and spouse abuse shelter. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The YWCA Darien/Norwalk is a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving women the support and tools they need to transform their lives, be confident in their choices and raise healthy families. Its mission is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
