The No. 2-ranked Blue Wave traveled to Manchester, NH Saturday for the Manchester Invitational where they took first place with 78 points in the "Elite" varsity race, besting defending champion Bishop Hendricken of Rhode Island by six points.
Leading the way was Alex Ostberg who covered the 5k course in 15:40. Ostberg's finish was good enough for second overall in the "Elite" varsity race.
"Marshall and Armstrong were the difference in the meet," Darien coach Tyson Kaczmarek said. "That is where we made up the points on second place."
"This was a great test for us. We needed to run well and did. I'm very pleased and very excited. But we can't settle. We have to get better. I know we can improve and we will. We are just getting rolling," Kaczmarek said."Alex ran a fantastic race. The leaders made a real hard move at two miles and Alex covered it. That was very impressive."
