Cloudy skies today across southwestern Connecticut are a prelude to a gray, periodically stormy weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

While the NWS has no precipitation in today's forecast, it will be cloudy most of the day and the daytime high temperature is expected to hit about 80 degrees.

Skies will also be cloudy tonight, with a low around 68 degrees.

Tomorrow, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m., the NWS says. It will be cloudy for most of the day, with a high temperature of about 81 degrees. The threat of showers and thunderstorms continues at night and the temperature is expected to fall to about 71.

Showers and thunderstorms remain in the forecast for Sunday, both daytime and at night. The skies will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. East wind around 9 mph.

Monday continues the unsettled weather trend, the weather service predicts, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Otherwise, skies will be partly sunny, with a high near 82 degrees.
