Residents and town officials paid their respects to past and present veterans during a ceremony held at Town Hall.

The Veterans' Day ceremony began at 11 a.m. with a prayer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars before the flag was raised to half-staff in honor of a Connecticut soldier who was recently killed while serving in Afghanistan.

Town Officials thanked the veterans for their service as roses were laid on the Veteran's Memorial Circle stone to commemorate each branch of the military. The ceremony ended with a presentation from a small group of Cub Scouts who gave the VFW members a banner signed by all of the scouts thanking the veterans for their service.
