Darien man allegedly hit his elderly father

DARIEN —A 59-year-old Darien man was arrested after allegedly striking his elderly father in the face.
Officers became aware of the situation after a nutritionist working with the father asked police to check in on the older man. The nutritionist said he the man had gotten into a fight with his adult son, Richard Hett of Greenwood Avenue.
Police reached out to the older man who told police he and Hett got into an argument during which Hett struck him in the face. The man had no visible injuries and did not need medical attention. He said this is not the first time his son has hit him.
Based on this, police arrested Hett Aug. 15 and charged him with disorderly conduct, threatening and interfering with an emergency call. He posted a $100,000 bond and appeared in court Aug. 16.
