Zachary Hession, 21, of 21 Chestnut Street was arrested June 13 while appearing in Stamford Superior Court, police said.

The arrest stemmed from an incident on April 20 when a Pleasant Street resident heard footsteps coming up the stairs in his house at 11:20 p.m., police said.

The resident told police he left the garage door open and a door leading into the kitchen unlocked, which is how Hession entered the home. Police interviewed Hession on May 23 and he admitted he entered the home to steal anything he could to fund his addiction.

He was held in lieu of $25,000 bail and appeared in court June 13.
