Donald Brustman, 58, was charged with second-degree strangulation and disorderly conduct Tuesday, May 15, at his home on Noroton Avenue.

According to the report, Darien Police received a call from Brustman's daughter who said he had strangled her mother. When questioned by police, Brustman denied the accusation.

Brustman told police that he became angry during an argument with his wife about a picture of her brother. He said he threw a potted plant through the back door into the yard.

Brustman's wife told police he came up behind her after throwing the plant, put his hands around her neck and choked her. She refused medical attention and showed no visible marks on her body.

Police said they found a 9 mm handgun in Brustman's pants' pocket.

Brustman's bond was set at $10,000 and he appeared in court May 16.
