Darien police welcomed its newest police officer last week with the hiring of Officer Luis Moura, a Bridgeport police officer for the past three years.

Moura will complete a modified field training program over the next three weeks to complete his probationary period with the department, according to police.

A native of Bridgeport, Moura has an undergraduate’s degree in history from Southern Connecticut State University, and is a member of the Vasco da Gama Portuguese American Club and has a strong interest in soccer, hockey and running.

As a Bridgeport officer, Moura was a recipient of the Bridgeport Police Community Service Award and received the Merit Award for a recent arrest.

After his field training he will be assigned to the department’s uniform patrol squad.
