Police responded on Sunday, Dec. 16, to two reports of theft of purses on Dec. 16.
The first incident occurred at Ernie's Bar, 25 Tokeneke Road, where the complainant told police that she was seated at the bar and had placed her purse on the floor. When she was leaving the bar she discovered that her purse was missing, but it was found outside at the rear door, said police. Approximately $300 in cash had been taken, police said.
The second incident occurred at Whole Foods Market, 150 Ledge Road. At approximately 1:55 p.m., police said, a woman was having lunch at one of the tables and placed her purse on the back of her chair. After finishing her lunch, police said, she inadvertently left the store without her purse. When she returned to the store nine minutes later, the purse was gone, according to police. Police said the purse is described as a black cloth Betsey Johnson valued at $250 and contained various personal items and approximately $25.
