FontThe Darien-based BevBucks, a website that partners with alcohol brands to offer exclusive discounts at bars, restaurants and events, has been selected by the Westport Downtown Merchants Association to assist in ticket sales and promotions for its Biergarten on the Green event.
The craft beer and beer-infused food tasting event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, as part of the weekend long Downtown Westport Foodie Fest. Tickets will be sold through BevBucks.com, a group-buying site specializing in alcohol industry promotions.
"We're proud to be able to contribute to this festive event, which benefits so many local charitable organizations," said Dan Miller, president of BevBucks.
"We're happy to have a trusted partner in the industry to help support our efforts," said Lee De Monico, public relations director for Westport DMA. "Biergarten on the Green will be the premier attraction at Foodie Fest for craft beer enthusiasts and those want to experience the flavorful recipes inspired by fine craft beers." Celebrity chef and cookbook author Ian Knauer will co-host the special occasion. Participants will receive a complimentary tasting mug and German-inspired lunch. Knauer's recently published book, "The Farm: Rustic Recipes for a Year of Incredible Food," will be available for purchase. The Zany Oompah Band will perform live.
"It's a great opportunity to watch a professional chef and receive tips on how to include delicious farm-fresh ingredients -- and beer -- in your own cooking," said De Monico.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a food donation for the Westport Farmers Market drive to benefit the Gillespie Center of Homes with Hope. Proceeds benefit local nonprofit organizations and the WDMA's downtown beautification efforts.
