Thirteen-year-old Darien Junior Football League player Sean O'Malley has been selected to play on the eighth grade Team Connecticut for the FBU National Championship.

The FBU (Football University) National Championship is the largest youth football tournament in North America and consists of the best athletes in the sixth, seventh and eighth grade with 64 teams per grade and over 6,000 of the nation's top athletes. The champions are crowned in San Antonio's famous Alamodome on Jan. 3-5, 2014.

The 5'9," 185-pound lineman is the only player ever to be selected from Darien to compete on this level.

The first round of the tournament will be Dec. 7 in New Jersey where he will be starting as tight end and outside linebacker for Team Connecticut.

O'Malley has just completed his sixth year of tackle football in the DJFL and will move on to the high school level next fall.
