The Darien Chamber of Commerce office, 10 Corbin Drive, was burglarized sometime between Aug. 15 and 16, police said.
An employee of the Darien Bank and Trust, 777 Post Road, notified the chamber of suspicious activity on one of the chamber's debit cards, according to police.
It was discovered that the four bank deposit bags were missing from the chamber's offices, according to police.
The debit card that was in a bank deposit bag never had been activated and the paperwork pertaining to the card would have been in the bag along with the card's PIN, police said.
The complainant left the office, which was locked, at 1:30 p.m. but she believes the lock can be circumvented, police said.
On Aug. 18, police received more information regarding the stolen debit card, police said. Three transactions were made, police said, at Fairlawn Variety, Fairfield County Bank and a Shell gas station, all of which are in Stamford, totaling $270.89.
Police obtained photos of the suspect from Fairfield County Bank.
Police are investigating.
