DARIEN — Around $3,000 worth of wine was stolen from a home for sale on Leeuwarden Road.
The homeowner, a 63-year-old Darien man, had been away for several weeks, during which time his home was being shown to potential buyers. When the man returned July 27, he found between 24 and 36 bottles of wine were missing from his wine cellar. Other bottles of wine had been moved to hide the missing bottles. There was no sign of forced entry into the home or the wine cellar.
The owner contacted police several days later on July 30. He is in the process of compiling a detailed list of the missing wines. There are no suspects at this time, as police continue to investigate this incident.
