Elderly woman missing in Darien found in Hartford

A 72-year-old Ohio woman, with dementia, who was reported missing Wednesday by Darien relatives she had been visiting, was found early Thursday in Hartford.
Laurie S. Reed, last seen in Darien about 2 p.m. Wednesday, was found by a state trooper on Route 9 in Hartford, according to Darien police, who had activated a "Silver Alert" search for the woman.
Reed, who police said was unharmed, was found about 7 a.m. Thursday in the blue Ford Expedition that she was last seen driving in town about 17 hours earlier.
Reed was reported missing by her family after she dropped off a relative at Darien High School earlier Wednesday. The family told police that she did not have a cell phone.
