Equinox Darien is partnering with Person-to-Person to collect food.

Equinox is asking both members and nonmembers to donate shelf-stable food at Equinox Darien, 72 Heights Road. Nonmembers who donate items will receive a two-week trial membership and a three-day pass to give to friends. All Equinox members who donate will receive a small gift from The Shop.

The food drive will run through Dec. 29.

"With a holiday food drive as the first of many social responsibility acts planned by Equinox in the Fairfield community for the New Year," Pate Cage, P2P manager of in-kind giving, said, "We appreciate that Equinox chose Person-to-Person as the beneficiary of this initiative."

Equinox Darien General Manager Jason Fox said, "We are pleased to partner with Person-to-Person and give back to those in need this holiday season."

The items needed are cereal/oatmeal; coffee/tea; pancake mix and syrup; 100 percent fruit juice; peanut butter; jelly/jam; jello/pudding mix; macaroni and cheese; cookies/crackers; pasta; spaghetti sauce; canned meats, such as chicken, chili, stew; dried beans; canned fruit and vegetables; and canned/dried soups.

Person-to-Person annually provides more than $9 million in food, clothing, financial assistance and interconnected services through the efforts of more than 2,500 volunteers, community support and staff.
