At its 122nd annual meeting Oct. 22, Family Centers recognized longtime board member Kip Koons, of Darien, who has been instrumental in helping the agency grow.
During his tenure on the board of directors, Koons' guidance and advice have been a driving force behind Family Centers' continuous growth over the past 25 years. Experienced in mergers and acquisitions, he has helped facilitate six mergers, which have made Family Centers a diverse and trusted community resource. Koons has also served on the agency's nominating, finance/investment and various program committees, all while raising funds and awareness for Family Centers.
To thank him for his many contributions, Family Centers presented Koons with the 2013 Helen Gratz Rockefeller Outstanding Volunteerism Award, which is presented annually to a member of the board of directors and is the agency's highest honor for volunteer work.
"Kip has been part of the bulwark that has kept our agency strong and growing for the past 25 years," Jan Dilenschneider, a former board chairman and past recipient of the award, said. "His careful scrutiny and attention to detail has led to the successful outcomes we have experienced."
