Each year, Tokeneke School fifth-graders take the Darien Fitness Test, under the training and supervision of physical education teacher Suzanne Stisser. They prepare for the test over the course of several weeks, then they are evaluated in several events designed to assess strength, speed, endurance and flexibility. The four events are a mile run, sit and reach, pushups and curl ups. Students can achieve a gold, silver or bronze award. In addition to the gold award, 10 students have been selected to the Tokeneke Fitness Hall of Fame for achieving high scores.
