The Darien High School Jazz Band will host a Jazz Jamboree, featuring 10 bands from seven high schools, on Friday, March 28.

The festival will also feature the band from Darien's Middlesex Middle School, which will perform at 4 p.m.

The other bands will follow. At the 9 p.m. finale, the DHS Jazz Band will perform with the three festival judges.

The judges, who also will conduct workshops with each band, are alto saxophone player John Mastroianni, pianist Joyce DiCamillo and drummer Thierry Arpino.

The DHS Jazz Band, under the direction of Jonathan Grauer, has been on the road performing and competing at various jazz festivals around Fairfield County, but decided to host its own jazz festival.

Audience members are welcome to watch any of the performances throughout the evening.

Admission is $5. For information, call 203-655-3981, ext 2250.
