Julie Forsyth has been named the interim executive director of the YWCA Darien/Norwalk.

Forsyth replaces Ellen Kirby, who has decided to pursue other opportunities.

Forsyth, an active YWCA member since moving to Darien in 2009, has served on its board of directors since 2011 and has been president of the board since July 2012.

"I am delighted that Julie has accepted the offer to serve as our interim executive director," Deborah Papaeconomou, interim board president, said. "Her experience as the president of the board, combined with her extensive professional expertise and her passion for the organization will be invaluable during this transitional period."

In addition, Forsyth has been an active community volunteer, most notably with Person-to-Person and the Royle School Kids Care Club. She has more than 20 years of business experience, including retailing management, strategic planning, product development, marketing and e-commerce. Most recently, she worked in London as global strategic director of online for Burberry.

She received a Master of Business Administration from Boston University and Bachelor of Arts from Harvard College.
