Free family event at Selleck's Woods

The Darien Land Trust and Friends of Selleck's Woods will host a Celebration of the Woods and Streams, a free event of fun and learning for children and adults at Dunlap/Selleck's Woods on Sunday, June 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Funded by a grant from the Long Island Sound Study, the event will offer exhibits, games, food and music. Among the activities will be woodland exhibits and nature hikes along discovery trails, including guided bird tours; learning about frogs, turtles and salamanders from the woods and streams; a native plant garden; I Spy Corner and bird identification; pony tree and tree identification; a vernal pond, Dunlap Lake and the critters in them; butterfly gardens and building fairy houses.

There will also be a series of village exhibits," as well as tips on how to green your garden.
