The 25th annual Hackers For Hope will take place Friday, Sept. 20, at Wee Burn Country Club, Darien.
Since its inception, Hackers For Hope, through Smith and Brown, has donated more than $11 million to support cancer research and treatment programs at institutions such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Bennett Cancer Center, New York Weill Cornell Medical Center and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
This year's event will focus on the theme of hope, since the advances in research and treatment of the past quarter century have helped produce increasing rates of survival of many cancer patients, the organization said.
At the event, 20 golfers play from dawn to dusk and friends, family and colleagues sponsor them. This years' golfers include Jim Book, John Fichthorn, Pete Graham, Craig Jeffers, Jim Kellogg, Whitney Lancaster, Kevin Minicus, Chris O'Connor, Tom Richardson, Foster Smith, Jeff Stute, Tara Tokonitz, Sue Weaver, Taymore Zarghami and Meredith Zengo.
The event will be a cocktail party format with an open bar and hors d'oeuvres buffet. Live music will be by the Right On Band, a '70s show band that has played worldwide, including for three U.S. presidents and at Times Square New Year's Eve celebrations.
Auction items include vacation homes in Park City, Utah, Costa Rica and Fishers Island; private dinners at Rao's in New York City; a Giants football package; and tickets to "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" and "Saturday Night Live."
Tickets are $175. For information or tickets, visit hackersforhope.org.
