The theme for the 26th annual Hackers For Hope, which will take place Friday, Sept. 19, at Wee Burn Country Club, is "forward progress."
Hackers For Hope, conceived by Darienites Alfred E. Smith IV and Tim Brown, has donated more than $12 million to support cancer research and treatment programs at institutions such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Bennett Cancer Center, New York Weill Cornell Medical Center and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Twenty-three golfers will play from dawn to dusk with friends, family and colleagues sponsoring them. The golfers will include Jim Book, John Fichthorn, Pete Graham, Doug Henderson, Jim Kellogg, Rick Klingman, Whitney Lancaster, Greg Lesko, Kevin Minicus, Chris O'Connor, Tom Richardson, Foster Smith, Jeff Stute, Tara Tokonitz, Sue Weaver, Taymore Zarghami and Meredith Zengo.
Cocktail buffet, dancing and a live auction begins at 6:30 p.m. Live music will be performed by the Jeff Lubin Band. Also during the evening a brief video with commentary about the many successful research projects that have been launched in the past several years will be shown.
