As voter turnout continues to hold strong, U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (CT-4) made a brief stop at the Democratic headquarters this afternoon.

"I just want to thank all of you for your hard work," Himes said. "Coming into this I was a bit worried about the enthusiasm but I have stopped at six different offices and they are humming with activity."

Himes was heading to Westport, Trumbull and finally Bridgeport, where he would be stationed at the Holiday Inn as the election results rolled in.

Darien resident Steve Cary said he was amazed at the amount of advertising for the elections.

"It was very hard to suffer through the advertising," Cary said. Despite his reservations about the negativity portrayed in the ads, Cary acknowledged that he voted because he felt it was his civic duty.

Voter turnout was holding strong at more than 4,000 voters as of 2 p.m.
