Prudential Connecticut Realty is sponsoring a Statewide Home Buyer Event through Sept. 26.

The Darien Prudential office is at 455 Post Road. The goal is to help first-time homebuyers better understand the buying process and financing a home.

During the two-hour seminar, buyers will learn about what is happening in the housing market in their area, the pros and cons of buying versus renting, what they need to know before getting started and an overview of the mortgage process. Prudential Connecticut and Rhode Island Realtors, as well as representatives from Connecticut Home Mortgage, will be on hand to answer any questions.

"The home-buying process can be complicated and stressful," said Candace Adams, president of Prudential Connecticut Realty. "For many this is the first big purchase they have ever made. The purpose of the events is to provide buyers with the right information they need from professionals who can help them achieve their home-buying goals."

Some of the benefits to buying over renting that will be highlighted are the ability to build equity, the freedom to make a house a home, as well as the tax breaks that come along with home ownership.

"With mortgage rates at all-time lows, combined with low housing prices, this event comes at a time that is extraordinary for those interested in purchasing a home now," said Tony Rinaldi, vice president and director of financial services for Connecticut Home Mortgage. "The event will equip those potential home buyers with the knowledge and information necessary to make the right decision to purchase the home of their dreams, either now or in the future."

"This is an opportune time for prospective buyers to learn the process of buying their first home," said Sharon Craig, regional vice president for Prudential Connecticut Realty. "I encourage anyone who is considering buying a home to contact their local office and reserve a seat."

Attendance is free. For information, call the Darien office at 203-655-5114.
