A night of snowfall couldn't deter Darien residents from attending Music for Hope, a fundraising campaign for cancer research, that featured Darien music groups, including Nashville-recording artist Gunsmoke.

Nick DeMaio, DHS physical trainer and Gunsmoke bassist and vocalist, started the fundraising campaign in 2010 and has since raised more than $8,000 for national and local organizations and hospitals fighting cancer. The evening brought in more than $2,500, according to DeMaio, which will be donated to Bennett Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital and the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
