DARIEN — The rain came down Saturday afternoon, but the launch of Darien’s first Weed Beach Fest was a success.

“If the rain doesn’t clear, it’s still going to be a blast,” said Tara Cochran, program secretary for the Parks and Recreation Department, prior to heavy afternoon downpours abating.

Families still turned up to hear live bands, stroll amidst pop-up vendors, and participate in fun and games.

“It’s a community event … just to create a nice vibe in the town,” Cochran said.
