JoAnn Kerr Bonaparte, of Wilmington, Del., formerly of Darien, CT, died Feb. 23, at Christiana Hospital. She was 82.

Mrs. Bonaparte was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and moved to Miami, Fla. at a young age. Her family moved to Stamford and she graduated from Stamford High School in 1946 and the University of Pennsylvania in 1948 with a degree in dental hygiene. She worked as a dental hygienist for the school systems of Darien and Stamford for many years where she participated in the school bowling league.

She was an avid reader, and had a lifetime love of dogs. After her retirement, she taught English as a second language and volunteered as a tutor at Carrcroft Elementary School and at Saint Edmonds Academy. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Wilmington.

She was predeceased by husband Roy N. Bonaparte and parents Eugene Anderson Kerr and Edith Hone Kerr, as well as her younger brother Gene Kerr. She is survived by daughter Lisa Applegate and her husband Terry, son Tom Bonaparte and his wife Debra, son Steve Bonaparte and his wife Karen, grandchildren Nathan Applegate; Matt Blough; Craig Blough; AJ Jakic and wife Liz; Jennifer Faulkner and husband Jeff as well as many b cousins, nieces, nephews and two great-grandchildren.

A Memorial service will take place Saturday, March 12, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1120 Darley Road, Wilmington, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Stamford Animal Care and Control or your local animal shelter.
