Kindergarten readiness is topic

YWCA Darien/Norwalk's Parent Awareness, a family-focused program that provides support and education to parents and children in order to encourage the healthy, positive development of youth and families, is presenting "How Do I Know Whether My Child is Ready for Kindergarten?" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Darien Town Hall.
Sarah Hundley, a pre-doctoral psychology intern at the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut, will discuss what factors go into deciding whether a child is ready for kindergarten, including academic, social and emotional issues, physical characteristics and birth date.

Hundley's doctoral research focuses on language development and early childhood trauma. She also conducts specialized assessments for children ages 2 to 6. She has worked with toddlers, preschoolers and their families for more than five years.
