DARIEN — Police are investigating a smash-and-grab burglary from a car parked at the Kings Highway Tennis Club.

On Feb. 8 around 7:15 p.m., a 45-year-old Norwalk woman parked her 2009 Lexus. Two hours later, the woman returned to her car to find the front passenger window had been smashed and her purse and laptop had been stolen.

The women told police she left her laptop case and pocketbook on the floorboard of the passenger side of the car. There were 25 other cars in the lot, but all were secure. There was nothing to indicate how the window had been smashed.

Taken was a $1,000 Lenovo Thinkpad along with a $50 laptop bag. The woman’s $100 Ralph Lauren purse containing seven credit/store cards and $20 was also stolen. The bag also contained a $25 wallet, $170 Oakley sunglasses and $200 prescription eyeglasses.

The detective bureau is following up about possible fraudulent use.

There were no other incidents of this nature in the same area, though police are exploring the possibility the theft may have been connected to Noroton Bay burglaries occurring around the same time.
