Lawrence Funeral Home was crowned champions of the Majors Division of the Darien Little League on Sunday in an exciting 12-9 victory over Noroton Heights Fire Department squad.

Lawrence took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a triple by Harry Rayhill, followed by a long two-run homer by Tommy Napolitano. Napolitano's blast flew well over the center field fence.

NHFD took the lead by scoring a run in the second when Chris Vernal stole home and two runs in both the third and fourth innings. An RBI double from Nicky Briganti in the fourth scored Connor Percarpio.

The stage was then set for a Lawrence comeback in the bottom of the fourth when Neil Ghandi walked and Matt Daileader knocked him in with a rocket double to the left field fence. Dylan Fram walked and Daileader scored on an RBI single by Tyler Aponte. Sean Gallagher walked to load the bases, and Rayhill put Lawrence back on top with a bases clearing double for a 7-5 lead.

Lawrence added five insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth on a RBI single from Dylan Fram, two wild pitches and a two-run homer from Sean Gallagher.

NHFD scored three more runs, but Rayhill closed the door with a final strikeout to end the NHFD rally and secure the championship.

Jack Bogdan and Sean McKay pitched well in defeat for NHFD, while Napolitano pitched four quality innings for Lawrence and Rayhill earned the save by pitching the fifth and sixth.

Lawrence received fine catching from Devyn Kipphut and good glove work from Andrew Lucas, Daniel Guarneri and Alex Barnard.

Lawrence swept through the playoffs with a 7-0 record against several quality opponents. Season highlights for Lawrence included Napolitano leading the league with five home runs, Rayhill hitting over .500 and striking out over 70 batters and Sean Gallagher being crowned the fastest runner in the league at the skills competition.
