On Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium, the Board of Education will hold its annual public hearing on the superintendent's proposed 2014-2015 budget for the Darien Public Schools. On behalf of the Council of Darien School Parents, we encourage all parents to attend, become informed and make your views heard on the school budget.

As a town community, we must move forward by righting the wrongs of last year and ensuring effective and innovative educational programs for our children. In addition to budgetary items, it is time to advocate for long range strategic planning for our schools and our facilities, to ensure that we plan adequately to handle future enrollment growth and maintain the excellent quality of education that Darien parents expect in their schools.

Representatives of the CDSP will be sharing their views on the school budget at the public hearing and welcome your participation. Please reach out to your school CDSP budget representatives with questions, comments and thoughts for the upcoming school year budget.

We hope you will join us on Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. Join us in having your voices heard.

Robin Nelson and Tara Ochman, co-chairmen
