Since his 2010 election, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has followed through on his campaign promises to preserve state aid to municipalities.

Per the non-partisan ctmirror.org, Malloy has increased grants to municipalities -- including Darien -- by $1.42 billion during his first term.

Absent these payments, cities and towns across Connecticut would have faced a billion dollar hole in their annual budgets, necessitating local property tax increases or sharp reductions in local services.

Malloy has also reversed prior administrations' irresponsible practices of chronically under-funding state pensions.

I'll be supporting Malloy's re-election on Nov. 4 so he can continue to make tough but responsible financial choices.
