Poll workers are the life-blood of our elections in Darien. Since January, the new registrars have reached out to these town residents for a potential primary in September and the general election in November. As there were no petitions filed for a primary, the registrars contacted the individuals who had responded to our letters to thank them for their willingness to be involved once again in the elections.
Below is a copy of the letters sent to all of the poll workers who had committed to working the elections this year:
Thank you for responding to our request for poll workers. As you know, your participation is vital to having elections in Darien.
Yesterday was the deadline for filing for a Sept. 10 primary. As we received no petitions, Darien's next election will be Tuesday, Nov. 5. We hope you will keep this date available. The polls for the November election will be Holmes School, Hindley School, Tokeneke School, McGuane Field House (221 Noroton Ave.), the 35 Leroy Municipal Building (the old Darien Library) and Town Hall.
We look forward to working with all of our poll workers. Those of you who are moderators will (or have been) contacted for renewing your training certification. Everyone will have training at Town Hall shortly before the November elections -- we will offer several day or evening training options.
This year there are several new features for poll workers such as streamlined training with PowerPoint slides and new food options -- salads and sandwiches. McGuane Field House replaces the previous poll location of Darien High School and 35 Leroy replaces the previous poll at Ox Ridge School.
