I am writing to support Tom Valentino for tax collector of Darien. Tom, a 37-year resident, raised two children in Darien, served two terms on the RTM, and two terms on the Commission on Aging, and is a certified moderator of elections in Connecticut.
Tom Valentino has always stood up for the Darien taxpayer. Despite enormous pressure, he vociferously said "no" to the shuffle proposal. He spoke his mind, passionately and boldly. And he was right. Don't we all now wish we had spent that money more wisely?
More importantly, Mr. Valentino has courage. Maybe you like cautious, frightened people who play to powerful groups, take misinformed gossip seriously, and criticize dedicated journalists who dare to tell the truth. Fine, stick with that path.
But if you are sick of cowards? Vote for ethical, transparent leadership -- i.e. vote for courage. Vote Valentino.
