Mark Whitehead, 57, of 47 Tulip Tree Lane, Darien was arrested July 27 on a charge of breach of peace.
Darien officers responded to Whitehead's residence on a report that he had been sitting in his truck revving the engine, police said.
When officers arrived at his home, he was no longer in the truck, though the hood was still warm, the report stated.
The front door of the home was open and police were able to see Whitehead standing in the middle of the living room, police said. He told police he had moved his truck because his brother was going over his house the next day.
Police advised Whitehead to close the doors and remain inside, at which point, he screamed obscenities, the report stated.
As officers were leaving, Whitehead left his home and entered his truck. The officers knew Whitehead had been drinking so approached the truck to intervene, police said. Whitehead refused to leave his truck, police said, and had to be escorted out and handcuffed.
While police were in the process of arresting him, a number of neighbors gathered near the home, and all clapped when Whitehead was handcuffed, the report stated. Whitehead then started screaming profanities, police said.
Police had been at Whitehead's house earlier that day on a report that he was yelling obscenities. Whitehead was advised to remain in his home for the remainder of the evening or he would be charged to breach of peace, according to the report.
Whitehead was held in lieu of $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 7
According to police, Whitehead has been arrested nine times since November 2013 for similar instances.
