Manuel Molina, 27, of Blackrock Avenue, Bridgeport, was charged with driving under the influence and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license early Friday, Sept. 25, Darien Police Sgt. Jeremiah Marron said.

At 1 a.m., an officer spotted a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta stopped near Ledge Road with the hazard lights activated, Marron said. Approaching the car, the officer observed Molina appeared to be asleep with the car in gear and his foot on the brake, Marron said.

The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol and Molina could not produce a vehicle registration or license, Marron said. Molina subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was arrested, according to Marron.

Molina was released on $500 bond and is to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on Monday,, according to Marron.
