Man charged with DWI; possession of marijuana

Michael Costa, 26, of 26 Country Club Road Darien, was charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of less than one half ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to illuminate headlamps Sunday, April 15, at 1:33 a.m..
Costa was operating a 2005 GMC Trailblazer when an officer observed the vehicle exit I-95 via exit 11 and stop in the middle of the intersection of the Post Road. and Leroy Ave without his headlights on. The officer pulled the vehicle over and detected the odor of alcoholic beverage on Costa, police said. Costa failed his field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. During an inventory of his vehicle, a red smoking pipe was discovered in the glove box with the residue testing positive for marijuana.

Costa posted a $250 bond and has a court date of April 26.
