Carmine Devita, 24, of 2646 Post Road, was arrested on Wednesday, May 1, on charges of burglary in the third degree and criminal attempt to larceny in the sixth degree.

Police said at approximately 3 p.m. officers received a report of a person attempting to break into a rooming house apartment. When they arrived, they encountered Devita sitting on the front porch and he told them he is a resident of one of the apartments, according to the report.

An investigation revealed that Devita had attempted entry into one of the neighboring apartments by applying force to an exterior window prior to the arrival of police, according to the report.
