Michael Schanck, 49, of Norwalk, was charged with interfering with an officer, operating with a suspended license, engaging police in pursuit, three counts of failure to obey a red light, reckless operation and passing in a no passing zone Aug. 23.
Schanck was traveling north on Old Kings Highway at 10:23 a.m. at a high rate of speed in a 2011 Lexus when an officer attempted to pull him over near the Post Road and Brookside Road, police said.
As the officer exited his vehicle, Schanck drove off and headed west on the Post Road traveling in excess of 50 mph., police said. Schanck ran three red lights and passed vehicles on the left in a no passing zone. Officers called off the chase after Schanck turned left onto Tokeneke Road and it was determined no longer safe to pursue him, police said.
He was later located by a Norwalk officer after police obtained license and registration information for the vehicle. Schanck admitted to running from police because his license was suspended.
