A Wakemore Street resident was the victim of an apparent realty scam, according to police.
The man was looking for homes to rent on flipkey.com when he found one in New York, N.Y., in which he was interested, police said, and reached out to the owner and corresponded with her only through email.
The homeowner stated that she was in Spain and would not be able to show him the house but requested that he fill out a seasonal renter's form and wire $900 to a bank in Spain, police said. The man received no response from the homeowner after he wired the money.
CitiBank has taken over the investigation, police said.
