DARIEN — A resident on Maple Street came home to find his house ransacked after someone entered through a bedroom window, police said.

On Aug. 20 around 11:30 p.m., the Maple Street homeowner returned from work and found the rear door of his house was unlocked. When he went inside, he found someone had rifled through the house. He immediately left and called the police.

When officers arrived, they located several areas where it appeared the suspect attempted to enter the home before eventually breaking in through a bedroom window. The suspect appeared to have stolen cash and jewelry from the master bedroom before leaving the house through the back door.

The investigation is ongoing.
