Spring is here and thanks to the Country Club of Darien and a memorial fund established by the friends and family of Jack Faulkner, the Darien Nature Center will host its first spring bird walk on Monday from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Country Club of Darien.

The club is seeking sanctuary status from Audubon International.Darien Nature Center naturalist Ioa Byrne, an experienced birder, will lead the birders in their walk.

May is the peak month for the migration of neo-tropical songbirds. Most continue their journey to the northern US and Canada but some nest in Connecticut. Along with many of the colorful wood warblers, the birders will look for scarlet tanagers, Baltimore orioles and a host of local resident songbirds and woodpeckers.
