New Haven man charged with harassment after contacting ex-girlfriend multiple times

A New Haven man was charged with harassing his ex-girlfriend after he repeatedly contacted her by phone even after she told him to stop.

John F. Whalen III, 53, of New Haven, was charged with second-degree harassment Feb. 2 after his ex-girlfriend contacted police and said he wouldn't stop contacting her by phone, police said.

Whalen was told by police he would be arrested if he continued to contact his ex-girlfriend; however, he continued to do so and was arrested by warrant, police said.

He was released on a promise to appear in court Feb. 3.
