News Briefs: Wreaths Across America, DHS reunion, Darien LWV candidate event

DARIEN — The Darien High School Class of 1968 hosts its 50th reunion in late August/early September. The reunion committee is seeking addresses and emails of classmates. Those interested should contact John Konrad at email@example.com or Karen Sisson Marshall at firstname.lastname@example.org.
DARIEN — The Darien League of Women Voters will host a voter event on Tuesday for candidates for first selectman, Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance and the Planning and Zoning Commission. The event will take place at the Town Hall Auditorium with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by separate debates by the different boards. The audience will have an opportunity to submit questions on topics of interest either in person or online. The debates will be facilitated by a trained moderator.
DARIEN — The town’s Wreaths Across America ceremony is Dec. 16 at noon in Spring Grove Veterans Cemetery. On Saturday, sponsorships will be collected at Darien Doughnut from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and at Goodwives Stop and Shop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and on Sunday at Noroton Heights Stop and Shop from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Last year, wreaths covered all 2,184 graves in the veterans’ section of Spring Grove. Residents can purchase wreath sponsorships and help in the wreath-laying ceremony. Wreaths, $15, can also be ordered at wreathsacrossamerica.org.
