The community is invited to learn about the history of Noroton Presbyterian Church, which was founded in 1863 during the Civil War, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, in Horton Hall, 2011 Post Road, Darien.
Rosemary Mace, chairman of the 150th Committee, will present the history, which will be accompanied by a visual presentation of historical photos and maps.
The development of the church property through the vision and generosity of Benjamin Weed, Lewis Clock, Frederick Bruggerhof and Carrie Bruggerhof Jones Hodges will be featured along with historical events that had a bearing on the church at the time. New history was learned through reading the minutes of the church session, searching Town Hall records and research on the Internet.
