DARIEN — Police charged a 44-year-old Norwalk man for injuring two men in a December bar fight.
On Dec. 18 around 1 a.m., Darien police responded to Chez Ernie’s Cafe on a report of a bar fight going on. The suspect struck a 51-year-old Darien man with a glass, then punched a 51-year-old Southbury man in an ensuing skirmish. The suspect was removed from the Tokeneke Road bar and left the scene before officers arrived.
The victims were both taken to Stamford Hospital following the incident. The Southbury man sustained a minor injury, but the Darien man suffered severe facial injuries.
Due to the extent of the injuries, the detective division responded to the bar to process the scene and interview those involved. On Dec. 19, police identified the suspect as Christopher Aikler, who met with detectives Dec. 22.
Darien police issued a warrant for Aikler’s arrest and the Norwalk man turned himself in Jan. 11. Aikler, of Bayne Street, was charged with second and third degree assault, as well as one count of breach of peace. Aikler posted a $15,000 court-set bond. He is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court Jan. 23 at 10 a.m.
