Sean King, 24, of 7 Nolan St., Norwalk, was arrested on charges of speeding and driving while intoxicated Nov. 27, according to police.
A Darien officer, who was performing roaming patrol for DWI enforcement, saw King driving at high rate of speed on the Post Road just before 2 a.m., police said.
While attempting to catch up to the 2003 BMW MINI Cooper, the officer had to reach 70 mph and then drove behind the car at 60 mph, according to the report. The posted speed limit in the area is 35 mph.
After the officer stopped him, he asked King how fast he believed he had been traveling, police said. King told the officer he was only driving 50 mph, according to police.
The officer detected an odor of alcohol and asked him to step out of the vehicle; King was unsteady on his feet, police said. The passenger in King's vehicle said they had come from the Black Bear Saloon in Norwalk, according to the report.
He was administered field sobriety tests, which police said he failed.
He posted $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 9.
